Role overview
An established financial planning and wealth advisory practice in Pretoria East is seeking an experienced Paraplanner to support its Financial Adviser with client preparation, financial planning administration, quotation comparisons, application documentation and file preparation.
The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring that client records, financial planning documents and application processes are prepared accurately, professionally and timeously. The practice works to a structured, detail-driven advisory process, and the paraplanner is central to keeping that process moving.
The position is best suited to someone who is highly organised, detail-orientated and comfortable maintaining accuracy across competing deadlines in a busy advisory environment.
Key responsibilities
- Create and maintain client profiles on Sanfin.
- Draw client information and policy data from Astute.
- Prepare comparison quotations.
- Assist with financial analysis.
- Complete application forms accurately and in full.
- Prepare client files for the Financial Adviser.
- Ensure all documentation is accurate, complete and professionally presented.
- Support the advisory process from administration through to file readiness.
- Manage multiple tasks, priorities and deadlines in a demanding environment.
Minimum requirements
- Previous experience is non-negotiable: a minimum of 12–18 months in paraplanning or financial planning administration.
- Fluency in Afrikaans. This is an inherent requirement of the role, as client engagement and documentation are conducted in Afrikaans.
- Strong spelling and written communication ability.
- A high level of accuracy and exceptional attention to detail.
- The ability to maintain accuracy and output while managing competing deadlines in a high-volume advisory environment.
- Strong multitasking and prioritisation ability.
Preferred qualifications
Experience with financial planning administration systems, quotation platforms and client file preparation systems will be advantageous, as will prior exposure to Sanfin and Astute.
Skills and competencies
- Exceptional attention to detail and administrative discipline.
- Professional written communication.
- The ability to remain accurate and productive when workloads are heavy.
- Strong organisational, prioritisation and multitasking ability.
- A high level of responsibility and ownership over work produced.
- Professional conduct in client-facing and practice settings.
- A strong support orientation towards the Financial Adviser.
Personal attributes
The practice is looking for someone who is comfortable working in a structured, detail-driven environment and who takes ownership of the accuracy of what leaves their desk. This is a support role in the truest sense: the adviser depends on the paraplanner having prepared the file properly before a client is seen, and the candidate who does well here will be the one who treats that preparation as their own responsibility rather than a task list.
Who this suits
The ideal candidate has already worked in a financial planning or paraplanning support environment, understands the importance of accuracy in financial advice documentation, is comfortable working with client information and policy data, and takes pride in producing neat, complete and compliant client files.
Candidate information required
A detailed curriculum vitae setting out paraplanning or financial planning administration experience, systems exposure and current notice period.
